Hi !!! I am actually an ex-musician in the lovely position of listening to excellent musicians without having to "measure up" myself !!!
I am a baroque fanatic. I go to lots of concerts and check out as many top bands as i can. Recently saw Fabio Biondi a few times and think him Beyond the Fabulous!
I did recorders and viols in college and have a very critical ear !!!! Did a bit of composing too !!!

Compositions I like would include: Handel harpsichord suites - mad about the 1733 chaconne - suites by Georg Boehm, Grabu:Suite from Valentinian, Rameau, Dardenus suite. David Funk is quite funky, like him! Jean-Marie Leclair`s Violin Sonata, Op.9, no.1 !!!!!!!! Vivaldi`s Dresden sonatas....... In fact I am mad about the Chaconne/Passacaglia !!!! Favouite recording of the moment is Sara Mingardo doing Handel`s Lungi da me Pensier Tiranno -only surpassed by her performance at the Wig !

Just a taster of my taste !!!!

I am going to list some more modern stuff I like as well.......................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am an artist nowadays doing Jewish themed art. Shortly launching my website!

My interests include books..and CDs of course, walking, chatting about anything and shopping!! I like to chat about anything interesting from art & architecture to science, psychology ............environmental issues, ethics.....alternative medicine & health, civil liberties ...education...whatever......and Jewish Law =Halacha, not to mention Music!

I have a strong interest in ethical issues and hate injustice or unfairness.

Best Wishes to all,
Sam

P.S. I am available for part- time job !!!! Anything considered ! Especially in the music line! I am also long familiar with graphics. I edit my own art work using Gimp (equivalant to Photoshop).

Yes, this is great. Seems to be the way forward. Cheap tickets and it doesn`t upset listeners who want a traditional atmosphere for listening. Don`t get me wrong, I do want young people to warm to "classical music", though I don`t see how to merge t…

Hi Sam,
I am doing well but have not had much time to write and am trying to catch up on correspondence. With the summer months coming, I hope to be able to have more time to relax and contribute to some of the discussions that I have been reading about.

Cheers,
Tom

Hi Sam

Quickest way to add photos to blog posts here is to copy the URL of an image online, then come back here and click the little camera icon. Pop in the URL, hit return and you're done. However, that's considered bad practice, because you're effectively stealing another site's bandwidth - it's called 'hotlinking'.

So the best way is to create an account with somewhere like Photobucket or ImageShack and upload your photos there. Then you just copy the URL for each image and do the same here in your blog as I described above.

Hope that helps - and thanks for saying you're enjoying my blog.

Hi Sam! I know, It's a shame it's not so popular! Well I prefer ensembles to individual players but I would have to say that Rachel Podger is a very fine violinist. How about you?

Hi Sam,
I think I missed this post from you - sorry. I`m always saying sorry to you aren`t I?
So you`re an EX-musician - whatever that may be. I think I do understand `cos I think I`m one of that ilk myself.
Just had `puter reconfigured, and it ain`t working fully yet. Can`t get sound with all my sophisticated & expensive on board gear.
Take care then.

Sam, hello,
I have been advised by MusBook that you have left a comment in Forum>Trade Secrets. I`m sorry but I can`t find it. [10.40am (UK)].
I wonder if MusBook have made an insertion under the wrong heading?
Sorry to bother you.
Best,

Hello Sam, how nice to hear from you and thanks for your remarks. This is an interesting site and it's nice you popped up. I'm also interested to hear you're an artist as I am in the process of converting The Red Hedgehog into a gallery by day.
You mention you need part-time work. I wish I could offer you a job... but no money at present. However, if you would like to come up to The Red Hedgehog and help steward, if you've got the odd evening free, you'd be very welcome. At least you'd be hearing some concerts.
Is there anywhere here I can post upcoming concerts? I noticed a couple of references to early music on MusBook. I now have the Amphion Consort programming a monthly concert which includes themselves and other early music colleagues.
Shame you live so far away, Sam...

Hi Sam,
Glad to meet you and I am delighted that you are a fan of baroque music. My area of special interest is 17th and 18th century German and Italian music. I am currently in the unenviable position of trying to figure out how to keep making a living performing during these very difficult economic times.

Best,
Tom
